now we're dealing with a wind storm and heavy rain through the big cities of the northeast and soon new england. it's a rough morning for the commute. winds just gusted to 43 at jfk airport. you can imagine at the airports especially from new york city, philadelphia and northwards will have the most significant delays and cancellations on this friday. thankfully it's just rain. we're not really dealing with igs ice or snow in new england. it's a different story in the great lakes. it's a winter wonderland anywhere in the state of michigan. it snowed hard last night, northern indiana and much of the state of ohio right now is seeing snow. careful driving, interstate 70 going across the lower portions of the great lakes and the ohio valley. and the winds are gusting, too. we probably have a little bit of blowing and drifting snow in indiana, michigan and ohio. and again, those winds this morning around new york city could get as high as 60 miles per hour. the worst of it coming in the next three hours. so keep that in mind as you're driving on the roads or doing anything outdoors. as far

temperatures are going to be in the mid to upper 40s in the big cities. upper 30s in the burbs with no snow on the ground, pretty nice for this time of year. d.c., what a nice period to get all your errands done for the holidays. temperatures into the low 50s by the weekend. no complaints anywhere. northeast or mid-atlantic the next five days. the southeast, a little different story. we got some rain this morning. i-95 south of south carolina into charleston, all the way through savannah, you will go into some rain along with our friends in southern portions of georgia. and that's where the wet weather will be today. rainy, cloudy and cool along the southeast coast. maybe a few thunderstorms in florida. the middle of the country looking a lot better and starting to warm up after your big snowy past weekend. anyone going to the west coast may be surprised for a little bit of rain in even los angeles today. it will be very light. but even by their standards, anything is a big deal. we leave you with a beautiful clear, crisp, cool shot of the christmas tree

it's cold in the burbs, nice in the city, similar to yesterday morning. you can bring that winter coat and gloves with you, and that will be about it. later this afternoon with a ton of sunshine. temperatures once again get into the 40s. even in areas of the suburbs, we should be at least low to mid-40s. so a very nice december thursday afternoon. let's talk about boston. you're one area that's snow starved. it doesn't look like any is headed your way with temperatures for highs in the 40s right through sunday and monday. this next storm should primarily be rain for you. you may get a little mix on sunday, but i don't think it's going to accumulate. we'll have to watch that football game sunday night, too, with the patriots and the 49ers. temperatures across the middle of the country looking a little bit on the cool side, but a lot better than it was. what a beautiful forecast. look at kansas city today. you're back up to 55. dallas at 61. only the southwest, los angeles to phoenix, could have some showers, maybe a stray thunderstorm. but for all your tra
